What are the reasons for the International Organisations to exist?
International organisations of all types act as part of global governance to address the most basic of concerns: security, freedom, order, justice, and welfare.
What does the term 'global governance' mean?
Global governance means all the processes that coordinate and control organizational resources and actions—all over the world.
How are international organisations categorised?
International organizations are usually classified into two main groups, international governmental (intergovernmental) organizations and international nongovernmental organizations.
What does the term epistemic communities refer to?
Epistemic communities are a network of professionals with both recognized expertise and competence in a domain and an authoritative claim to policy-relevant knowledge within that domain or issue-area.
What was the main reason for the foundation of the United Nations?
The massive devastation in Europe and worldwide forced world leaders to confront the unquestionable fact that war on a massive scale had destroyed their territories and populations.

One of the most significant reasons that make the European Union special is the member states having democracy in their culture rather than the Union bringing it to them. Democracy is fundamental to the European Union; it is a condition of entry for all applicant countries and is promoted as a part of European identity.
What were the previous organizations in Europe before the name 'the European Union' was adopted?
In the 1950s the 'European Coal and Steel Community' was formed. In 1957, the Treaty of Rome created the 'European Economic Community', or the 'Common Market', later renamed the 'European Community'. In 1986, the Single European Act was signed and this created the 'Single Market'. The name, the 'European Union', was adopted in 1993.
